Red Ink 2002 Nutshell/Pram Plywood Dinghy - Langford, BC After a long time thinking of, I built this boat at home and painted it red. When asked for a name I thought why not... as any boat owner knows costs exceeded the estimate.
Navicula 1964 30ft chris craft - Harbour View Yacht Club, Toledo, OH We named her Navicula because it is latin for small ship.
Flatus 1978, 23 foot Folkparka Motorboat. - Moored in Vejle, Denmark Flatus is Latin for "small wind" which actually means fart. Having the exhast above the waterline it really sounded like it was farting when the engine was running, hence the name.
Living Silverton 453 - n/a My last boat was named LIVING because, you are told to have a goal when you go through a Bone Marrow Transplant. Chances are about 80% that you will not make it. My goal was if I made it, we were upgrading to a Silverton 453 my....Guess what, I'm Living, hence the name.
4Granted Doral 360se - n/a Now to top that, we have been blessed with a child (named Grant), well so much for early retirement and Living on the Boat full time. So we down graded to a Doral 360se. The name for the boat was obious to us.
Night Crawler 2002 Mainship 390 Trawler - Saugatuck, MI Named because it's a trawler. The logo is a ship wrecked boat captain crawling on the beach in tattered clothes reaching for a bottle of tequila with a worm peeking out the side of a bottle, under the stars and moon. Really gets some laughs.
Ranare Nonsuch 22 - on beautiful Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz, CA The name plays out as r and r, get it, r an are, which of course stand for rest and relaxation plus my wife's and my name both start with r. I added the extra character after the last e to give it a hard "e" sound, Ranareeee.
Minor Stuff - Campbell River,BC Reason behind this was when something would happen in our house( pipes breaking, leaking roof, puppy having accident) my husband would always say "Don't worry about it, it's minor stuff". Hence the name.
School's Out. Macgregor 26 Swing Keel - Lake Logan-Martin. Pell City, AL We are both school librairans, and we go sailing whenever school is out. The O's in the name "School" are made with dancing apples. The dinghy is named "Recess".
At Last !! 1990 Bayliner 3288 - White Rock, BC The name was chosen for a couple of reasons. First and foremost for the Etta James song afavourite of ours. Secondly for the fact that we had a boat At Last.

Baydream West Wight Potter, P19, 3 years old - Backyard Boats in Shadyside, MD I was sitting around, trying to figure out a name for her. I realized I was daydreaming about sailing her on the Chesapeake Bay, and all of a sudden, out popped "Baydream.".
Rugby Queen 1980, 30 foot Catalina - Baltimore, MD Named for the night in college I met my rugby-playing husband. After the game, a party is hosted by the home team and after many kegs are shared, a Rugby Queen is crowned. The ceremony consists of the ruggers tackling the most placing them on the shoulders of the bravest rugger and singing terribly raunch songs to her. I received this dubious honor and it was one of the funniest nights of my life.

CAMILA 1967 Santana 22 - Port San Luis, CA I got an opportunity to get a "FREE" boat. Knowing there is no such thing, I quickly got two friends to help share the expenses. We took the first two initials of each of out first names and named her CAMILA. CA for Carey, MI for Mike and LA for Larry.

Wind Rose Hood 38' Wauquiez Sailboat - Portland, OR The compass rose has appeared on charts and maps since the 1300's when the portolan charts first made their appearance. The term "rose" comes from the figure's compass points resembling the petals of the wellknown flower. Worthless Crew 1972 Catalina 22 swing keel (hull #1520) - Great Salt Lake Sails mostly on the Great Salt Lake. As inland sailors we usually moor the boat on her trailer. The boat name came about because I was always walking/tripping over the lounging "crew" to trim sheets, tack sails, etc. One day, while performing the usual sailing maneuvers, I exclaimed "you sure are a worthless crew!"...and the name stuck.
